We treat your dog like family
Welcome to Pups Playground. We are a family owned doggy day care center located in our home town of Sabattus, Maine. Our first priority and concern will always be to treat your dog/pup like family. We will treat every pup like our own while allowing them to have fun and be safe. Playtime and social time are an important part of a pup's well-being. At Pups Playground your dog will have the opportunity to socialize with other dogs in a safe environment. Your pup will have fun playing, running and fetching with our pup tenants. You can rest assured that your pup will want to come back for more fun! If your dog enjoys hiking on trails we have a pup enthusiast that can give your pup some one on one time on our 6 acre wooded lot. Come see our facility to learn more.
Pups Playground offers both short term and long term boarding. Pups can come stay for as short as 24 hours to an extended stay. While you are away your pup will be spoiled by our staff. Our team is here to be sure your pup is cared for, loved and watched over during their time away from home. All of our staff is trained in Pup first aid. We also can provide safe transportation to an emergency vet if needed. While boarding with us, we offer play time during the day as well as comfort at night. Pups have large kennel spaces with elevated beds in a climate-controlled room. You can leave your dog with our Pups enthusiast knowing they are loved. For more information on boarding services please contact us and we will be happy to discuss any individual pup needs or concerns.
Please reach us at pupsplayground23@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We require 48-hour notice for cancellation for boarding. If you do not cancel within 48 hours we have a $50.00 cancellation fee. You must have a card on file at drop off. If you are paying cash then you will receive a 10% discount on your boarding fee.
Daycare there is no fee for cancelling, however we would like a call so we can open that spot up for another pup.
Yes, we offer pick-up and drop-off services for an additional fee. Please contact us for more information. This must be done in advance and is dependent on staffing and ratios on a day to day basis.
Our staff-to-dog ratio is approximately 1:12 to ensure that each dog receives individual attention and care. This ratio is flexible based on temperament of pups and at the discretion of the pack leaders daily.
Pups must be spayed or neutered by 8 months age. This is important for the social environment. Pups that are intact tend to show dominant behaviors that can disrupt the safety and playful environment that we aim for. Please allow your pups 7-10 days to heal properly following spay or neuter so they can come back ready to play without limitations.
First and foremost we will need a copy of vet records. We need proof of up-to-date Rabies, Distemper (DHAPP) and Bordetella (kennel cough). In addition to those vaccines we require that your pup be on flea/tick treatment as well as heartworm prevention.
A meet and greet is an opportunity for your pup to meet our staff and other pups. It is also referred to as a temperament assessment. We want all pups to be safe in the daycare environment. The meet and greet gives us the opportunity to assess your pup and his/her behavior with other pups. It is also a time for us to answer questions you may have.
We have an assessment period once your pup starts daycare. This means we will continue to assess your pup and keep you informed of how they are doing. It takes time for your pup to adjust to daycare and make new friends but once they do they will be excited to see them!
The majority of our day is spent playing outside. We have professionally turfed yards that are ideal for fun. The best part is your pups will be free of mud and dirt at the end of the day. With that said, if it is very hot or very cold the pups will be inside. We have a climate-controlled area that is suited for nap time. Weather permitting, we will be outside in enrichment activities and playtime. While playtime is the best part of day, we also feel it is important that pups have time to rest.
If your pup is ill, then they should stay home to not expose other pups to any illness. Pups spread illness by their nose or paws making it very easy for pups to share their "pup germs" from one to another. If we notice your pup is ill or hurt, we will call you immediately. We will then be sure to separate any pup from other pups to decrease any risks. If you are not available your emergency contact will be notified. While your pup is boarding with us if they need vet services, we will bring them to your personal vet or the emergency vet. Please understand that all vet services are the responsibility of the owner and not Pups Playground,
At Pups Playground we realize it can be stressful to board your pup. If you have any questions or concerns about how we make your pup's home away from home an easy transition, please reach out. We will get back to you soon!
